My adventure seeking brother, and 3 very close friends of mine from college have decided to embark on an incredible journey this summer. Starting May 1st these four guys will begin their coast to coast bike ride. They’ve decided to blog, vlog, photo share, and twitter * the experience so we can all watch with intense jealousy as they travel thousands of miles with their own two legs, sleeping in tents night after night exploring the deep breadth and expanse of the country.

These guys are not only riding as a challenge to themselves, but also as a means to raise money for their charity of choice KIVA.

From an email I received from one of the guys, he writes about KIVA:

When I write about this I’m already consumed with the need for an impossible adventure like this, but also so excited to watch their progress. I hope you follow them and support them!

* these guys are very new to the whole social internet thing…late bloomers if you will, so cut them a little slack- -at least at the beginning!

whether or not you like weather

I think you’ll appreciate and like this…it’s a fun, beautifully creative approach to an otherwise boaring, and often hateful, subject: the weather!

You can look at the next day and change the city you’re looking at. Although the weather is from Yahoo! it’s still more bearable because it’s so pretty to look at!

come out, come out you closet Friday Night Lights fans

I’m not even going to try and justify my obsession with Friday Night Lights, all I can say is it’s f’ing amazing. The more I get into it, the more my friends come out of the woodworks and admit they are obsessed with it too. Well, this post is dedicated to a perfect example of that. My friend Sergio, of the famous White Hot Top Five on Current TV, made a short film about Friday Night Lights. If you watch the show you will seriously pee your pants, and if you don’t watch the show, you will after watching this. So, without further ado I present to you Friday Night Lights Crying…

I saw this last Friday on Gothamist, but didn’t want to take away from the high energy, yeye weekend mood, so I waited until today to post this little bit of news on saatchi & saatchi’s attempt to “revitalize” the I (heart) NY logo. YIKES. I would love to know which (not nice adjectives inserted here) creative director thought this was a genius redesign, because if I ever ran into this person I would make weird squirrel noises and flap around like a butterfly… you know because it would be funny and stuff.

* note, if this was a mean joke someone played on saatchi & saatchi…it’s um really mean and kind of hilarious- but if you know this was a joke, let me know so I can add in the fact that this amateur, 17million dollar attempt at a redesign is, in fact, and thankfully, not real.

i’m back!

It’s been months, seems like years….can I say an eternity(?) since I’ve written on shedorksout…and oh how I’ve missed the smell, taste, touch, sound, and feel of it!  I am sorry for the neglect, and I’m ready to re-commit myself.

So, as we heard our new president say (can we get a lite w00t w00t for that!?!? YES WE CAN and YES.WE.DID!)  in the most exciting, moving, and hope filled election winning speech given during my lifetime, “This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment.”

To take that completely out of context and use it in terms of me, and this blog, I am using this moment to dive back in with full force and intensity…And now let my blogging journey re-begin!
