this time LOL is the best description

February 26, 2008 · 2 Comments

This was sent to me recently. I thought it was something my friend randomly stumbled upon (and not in the sumbleupon sense), not something almost everyone is in the process of getting turned on to.

stuffwhitepeoplelike
Stuff White People Like is hilarious. It takes cliches to the next level by creating them-in a way. It’s like the cliche you know exists but isn’t a cliche yet because it’s too modern. Well, that’s what this blog is all about. Ridiculous things white people like, a brief humorously written few paragraphs on it, and an accompanying photo. There is a new post anywhere from everyday to every 3 days, which is great because the small amount of content is turning this blog into a daily must read for a growing number of people.

I highly recommend you add it to your bookmarks, not just del.icio.us . It’s one of those sights you want to remember to check everyday: Today I was reminded that I, among all white people, threaten to move to Canada when I don’t agree with things going on in the US. Ha.

if you love tv game shows…

February 6, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Alright, so here’s the deal: I love tv game shows. I secretly want to be on who wants to be a millionaire. My dad and my grandma were both on Jeopardy (before I was born), so maybe it’s in my genes or something. Anyway, I used to spend hours in my college dorm room playing who wants to be a millionaire online. For some reason I fell out of that phase…but, I’m getting back into it thanks to WeDigTV.

WeDigTV is sort of like tv online, but not really. It gives you game shows on channels that you can pick from, but you don’t watch… You play!!!!

It gets cooler though. When you pick the game you want to play, it really looks like you are on that game show. There is a real person (not digitally created) announcing, a real studio audience, and actual commercials. Not only was this a really great business move on WeDigTV’s part, but it actually makes it seem like you are playing. I have no complaints! The graphics are also great, the site is simple, and really really addicting!

So, for any of you that are sure you belong on one of these game shows, want to prove just how brainy you are, or have some time to kill go to WeDigTV!!!!

I show, you show, we all show

January 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Here’s a site I found accidentally (which is kind of how I find a lot of my sites), and haven’t had more than 5 min. to look at it. But, my gut instinct is telling me it is cool enough that it shouldn’t sit on a sticky note and wait to be written about. WeShow, and purely on first impressions with a little digging around the site, is cool. I guess it is best compared to youtube, but the difference being in the layout, search capabilities, and content on the site. It seems to have the most bizarre and obscure video, and video clips; from the scene in Willy Wonka where Violet becomes violet, to the new web trend of lip synching. But, the part about the site that I really like right away is that everything is categorized for you. For example, I found that Willy Wonka clip under the category Classic Videos: Cult Videos. Awesome categorization!!!

I’m going to spend some time on WeShow to see what I think, but I have a feeling it’s going to be my go-to site when I want to see The Panasonic strip tease commercial (for example…ha). Spend some time on WeShow, and let me know what you think!

for all you jet setters out there…

January 10, 2008 · 2 Comments

I want to talk about a site that in the last 6 months has gone from almost no users to about 34,000, and with good reason. DOPPLR is: A. a social network, kinda B. A twitter type ish thing sorta in that people see where you are(an update sorta) C. a planning tool D. a little bit of a lot of different things.

Now, to be more specific, because that was a ridiculous description, DOPPLR is a site, in the most simple description possible, to manage and track your travel (for you and yours). To begin with, you create a simple personal profile, than you enter in trips that you have planned in the near or far future. This site is really cool, and actually useful, for a number of reasons. When you view your upcoming trips , the view is available in list or map form (which I think is really cool!). You can easily let your friends know where you are going and when by sending them a message, or simply by having them as a contact (or in this site’s case they are called Fellow Travelers). You can choose who sees your trips, and whose trips you are updated on depending on how you choose to manage your ‘fellow travelers.’ The site keeps a ‘Journal‘ of your virtual life on DOPPLR, as well as documenting your past travel…sorta like a facebook newsfeed. Another really awesome thing is that DOPPLR will tell you if you know anybody who lives, is visiting, or is planning a trip in/at the place you are traveling to. But, as useful as that is, you have to have entered them into your DOPPLR account somewhere along the lines for that to actually work, and in all truthfulness, that probably won’t happen at this young stage of the site.

As far as design goes, I am really impressed with its simplicity. It doesn’t need to be more complex or more interactive than it already is. It works extremely well, and is an amazing digital tool for jet setters, which is a noun that is becoming more and more common these days for work or personal life.

If you read my blog and are on the move nonstop, I beg of you to at least give DOPPLR a chance…if not for your own management, than at least so you don’t have to twitter, facebook status update, myspace bulletin, text, or blog about where you are going, each time you go somewhere.

May DOPPLR be with you.

one touch and boom…explode!

January 9, 2008 · 1 Comment

More in the realm of cool new websites, this one just happens to be a friend of mine (and I’m so proud of him!:) I can’t say it’s just him, because there are multiple people involved in TouchExplode …but anyway

I’m not really sure what the best way to explain TouchExplode is, because its content is so diverse on a day to day basis. That being said though, it is similar to JoshSpear.com in the sense that everything ties together nicely, even though the content from post to post can be completely different.

TouchExplode combines digital popular trends, hip hop clothing, music videos, really cool art, sometimes cool new products, photos, interviews, and pretty much everything in between and beyond those categories. It’s sleek and chic aesthetically, well written and concise (oops sometimes I am bad about that!), and the content always finds a way to impress me. This blog went from being a joke to potentially being a business in the future. I don’t want to jinx them, or put words in their mouths…but if it was me I would be getting ready for a major explosion. You should bookmark this and visit it, if not daily than at least a few times a week.

call me a thief

January 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I mean, don’t really call me a thief, but I guess after I tell you about these sites you can call me one if you want to. I’m cheap. Cheap when it comes to paying for things I really need. Things like food, household items, medicine….all the things you really should be ok with spending money on I am not. I like clothes, shoes, coffee, drinks, going out to eat….stuff that you shouldn’t spend your pennies on. So, tv kinda falls on the ‘I’m really cheap’ list. Which, is the reason I am writing this post. It’s the first in this category. This category being the w00t woot!FREE TV ONLINE!!!! category.

The first site I want to introduce to you is SideReel. I know a ton of you already know about this one, so there isn’t much of a point in going over it. I’m just going to say it has the most out of any w00t w00t FREE TV ONLINE!!!! site I’ve been to. My only complaint is there are a lot of links for each thing you want to watch, and you have to go through them all sometimes, because a lot of them wont load properly or just don’t work. BUT…it’s my favorite w00t w00t FREE TV ONLINE!!!! site.

Next one for today is one that a lot of you guys probably don’t know about: alluc has been the site I’ve been using for the last year (since I left college and have been to cheap to pay for cable). The thing I like about alluc is that it tells you what shows have been recently updated. So, you’ll know if last weeks episode of whatever you would be looking for is on the site yet. But, be forewarned: This site has gaps in shows, sometimes missing an episode or sometimes an entire season all together. And, a lot of time things will appear than disappear on the site. That probably makes no sense, but I got into the show Weeds (which I got back into thanks to SideReel) and halfway through the first season it disappeared off alluc. A month later it was back up. Just an example of negative stuff, but I still use alluc (just SideReel more!). Check them owwwwt!

can ya Digg it?

January 3, 2008 · 2 Comments

Sorry for those digitally dynamo dudes and dudettes that read this blog, but again I’m posting for the not-so-savvy readers out there. Digg has been around since late 2004, and plays a huge role in daily digital happenings. It’s a site that allows you to have a personal profile, similar to your social networking profiles, but focuses its energy on the “Digging” aspect(which I will explain momentarily), rather than your personal profile. You can see Digg all over the internet; from the New York Times online to PopSugar to Lolcats, they all have Digg This! next to articles, photos, videos, or anything else you could love or hate. When you push the Digg This! link next to whatever it is you are Digging (you know what digging means…like yeah man I totally digg that), it brings you to your Digg account and adds your Digg vote to whatever you just dug. The point, and coolness factor, of all this is that depending on whatever gets the most Digg This! clicks (which is like voting kinda, but all over the internet) gets top of the page on the Digg site. Don’t be fooled, this is a big deal. There are the main categories like Images, Video, News etc., but then there are subcategories separating things like technology, entertainment, lifestyle etc. It’s like an all-in-one news source for everything and anything. So, getting rated the highest means that the most people are interested in, and looking at/reading that specific thing. Perfect example is that right now if I look at the main category All than click Top in 24 Hrs. I see the thing that is getting the most Digg This! is a YouTube video called “What Girls need to know about their geek Boyfriends.” It’s cool to see what’s important to most people out there in specific interest areas. And, it also introduces you to things you never would have found online by yourself.

So, can ya Digg it? I know I can!

salad fingers

January 2, 2008 · 1 Comment

Hello all! I apologize for my digital absence the last few weeks, but I am back and ready to keep giving you little tid bits from my dorking out days. Let’s start ‘08 off with a bit of funny entertainment. Salad Fingers: http://www.fat-pie.com/salad.htm is a cartoon created by David Firth. At first you may think it a little odd, you might even use the word ‘weird’ BUT give it a second and you will be hooked. It’s ridiculously funny, and really who doesn’t love a good laugh when all it involves is watching an online weird looking cartoon man? GO GO GO….giggle in your cubicle, bed, or desk. Wherever you are working from or simply geeking out from, this is something you’ll bookmark, del.icio.us , or do whatever it is you do to remember those sites you want to keep passing on to your friends!

no…it’s not a shortcut on your computer

December 12, 2007 · 4 Comments

I heard about this site from a tweet on Twitter: http://twitter.com/ ; CommandShift3: http://commandshift3.com/ is a website that, like in the description, is a sort of hot or not for virtual geeks. It can be the most gorgeous website you’ve ever seen and you’re jsut thankful you’re finally seeing it, or it can be a poorly made site that lacks any creativity at all (kind of like mine!-sorry about that guys…I’m working on it). There is so much content and so many sites to look through that browsing can suck you in for hours. But, there are ways to sift through the entries; You can look at the best and worst sites daily, weekly, monthly, and all time. If you even have 10 min. of free time in front of your computer, take a look! Trust me when I say, CommandShift3 will bring prettyness into your digital life that you only hope existed in our cyber space of words and white screens. Big thumbs up from me!
