terrific eye candy

Here’s my second post in my “appreciate it” category:

Two of my very good friends, one of which was my roommate for a little bit when I first moved to Brooklyn, started this site over a year ago: (terrific, whistle) is their baby; it’s what they do when they aren’t working at Magnum Photos and Powerhouse Books.

(terrific, whistle) is a plethora of photography, multimedia(the same type I discussed in my first “appreciate it” post about MediaStorm), and videos. The two of them take wonderfully stimulating photos that are a pleasure to look through. Lately they have been focusing more on their multimedia projects, which I have no qualms with because I love watching them!

The site isn’t jam packed full of too-much-to-look-at, so you can easily spend a few minutes a day without getting completely overwhelmed with the feeling like you are never going to be able to see everything on there. I would definitely recommend checking it out, it’s a fun site to add to you del.icio.us and go back to occassionally.

My only wish is that they would upload more videos, because the videos that I’ve seen outside of (terrific, whistle) are amazing and I would love them to be on the site so everyone could see them.

taken by storm…first in my ‘appreciate it’ site reviews

January 15, 2008 · 1 Comment

MediaStorm is my go-to site when I have down time to ’surf the net,’ and I want to be stimulated mentally without being extremely interactive. MediaStorm is a site filled with the new “it” form of media; it’s multimedia movies, or maybe they’re slide shows…I’m actually not sure what category they would fall under, but I love them.

Here’s the reason: I love photography, and the photography in these multimedia presentations is absolutely breathtaking. But, not only is the photography amazing, the stories, the narration, and the way everything comes together as a whole is stunning. MediaStorm engages its viewer in an emotional and entertaining way. One thing though, MediaStorm is not for the conservative or fainthearted; they choose very controversial topics, which is another reason I love and respect their work.
