my lovely lady

December 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I realized today I haven’t posted at all about my amazingly talented and beautiful roommate, Lindsay Steiner. Lindsay been a really close friend of mine since college, and recently moved in with me in NYC. She sings/writes all her own music and lyrics, and pretty much plays any instrument you can think of (within reason). Check out her music and let her know what you think!!!

pop music (my secret vice)

November 24, 2008 · 1 Comment

I used to be embarrassed to admit that I love pop music… It’s not my everyday musical genre of choice, but there are definitely times when it’s exactly what I want.

So on that note…DJ Earworm has made it more acceptible as a listening choice with his awesome pop music mashups. I’m big on mashup dj’s anyway, but when I found this stuff and realized it was all pop my heart practically skipped a beat. ahhh love.

Anyway, here is one of his mashups I really enjoyed, check out his other stuff too!dj earworm

I’m totally obsessed with this video. If you’ve seen it, you should watch it again. If you haven’t…I wish I could experience what you are about to.

drinking out of cups

I think it’s like potato chips, you want to put the bag down, but as long as there are chips left in the bag you gotta keep munching away….you can’t help yourself.

Hi, my name is Emily and I’m addicted to Drinking Out Of Cups (that’s when you say…Hi Emily).

scrab-u-silly

March 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I know most of you are probably knee deep in Scrabulous games, and this post will most likely be boring to you…but meh, don’t read it then:) Ahhhh Scrabulous, how you entertain me in my times of boredom; how you keep my vocabulary continuously evolving; how you make me feel stupid at a 10 pt. word play….

scrabulous

I really had no interest in expanding my usage of Scrabulous to facebook until I was invited by a friend and realized how amazing this facebook app. really is. I’m not a fan of new facebook apps., adding apps., and or websites/brands that simply have facebook apps. to grow themselves. I actually think it’s kind of a cop out at this point. Unless, of course, it adds something positive to your facebook experience, without being obnoxious, contrived, and in your face. Scrabulous, you’ve done it! I actually think I like the facebook app. more than the website itself.

facebook scrabble

Why? You might ask…because on the facebook app. I don’t have to devote time to play an entire game at once, have a player ready to play with me at that very moment, or feel pressured to hide the game while I’m supposed to be researching or writing a deck. Nope, I can play my facebook Scrabulous whenever I have time to make 1 move, not play a whole game. This is a Scrabble revolution. Seriously. Anyway, I’m excited, you should be excited, we all should be excited about this new wonderful way to play this wonderful old game.

because i live in new york

March 6, 2008 · 2 Comments

I think this website is A. a really cool idea B. a great resource and C. a really really cool idea.

nyc

UMM arranging blogs by borough and subway line…hello! That’s really cool. This is a huge compilation of NYC blogs and bloggers. Awesome. I found this months ago and for some reason it slipped my mind until today. I remember coming across it and spending hours looking at blogs that were located around my neighborhood. I mean come on, how cool is that? Blogs that have a physical location and are not just a creation in the never-ending interweb. It’s so much fun, even if the majority of the blogs haven’t been updated in months, are creatively challenged, or simply exist with a title…who cares! You can literally see your fellow dorks on a map. I thought I was a rare breed in my neighbordhood…and I was right, but I know people are dorking out pretty close by now!

if you need more ways to waste time…

February 20, 2008 · 1 Comment

Recently Diesel and adidas launched a jean line together as part of adidas street clothing attempt. I’m not here to judge that, that will come later when I decide I actually want to write about fashion. Instead, I’m going to tell you to go waste some time on the site. It’s not too intricate or colorful, but it a great way to learn about wasting time, while wasting time on the site. In fact, the point of the site is “83 ways to successfully waste time.” Peruse, scroll, upload when you feel like it, get some great ideas of how not to be productive in whatever time you have to not be productive in. But, it’s kinda fun to look through!

if you love tv game shows…

February 6, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Alright, so here’s the deal: I love tv game shows. I secretly want to be on who wants to be a millionaire. My dad and my grandma were both on Jeopardy (before I was born), so maybe it’s in my genes or something. Anyway, I used to spend hours in my college dorm room playing who wants to be a millionaire online. For some reason I fell out of that phase…but, I’m getting back into it thanks to WeDigTV.

WeDigTV is sort of like tv online, but not really. It gives you game shows on channels that you can pick from, but you don’t watch… You play!!!!

It gets cooler though. When you pick the game you want to play, it really looks like you are on that game show. There is a real person (not digitally created) announcing, a real studio audience, and actual commercials. Not only was this a really great business move on WeDigTV’s part, but it actually makes it seem like you are playing. I have no complaints! The graphics are also great, the site is simple, and really really addicting!

So, for any of you that are sure you belong on one of these game shows, want to prove just how brainy you are, or have some time to kill go to WeDigTV!!!!

I show, you show, we all show

January 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Here’s a site I found accidentally (which is kind of how I find a lot of my sites), and haven’t had more than 5 min. to look at it. But, my gut instinct is telling me it is cool enough that it shouldn’t sit on a sticky note and wait to be written about. WeShow, and purely on first impressions with a little digging around the site, is cool. I guess it is best compared to youtube, but the difference being in the layout, search capabilities, and content on the site. It seems to have the most bizarre and obscure video, and video clips; from the scene in Willy Wonka where Violet becomes violet, to the new web trend of lip synching. But, the part about the site that I really like right away is that everything is categorized for you. For example, I found that Willy Wonka clip under the category Classic Videos: Cult Videos. Awesome categorization!!!

I’m going to spend some time on WeShow to see what I think, but I have a feeling it’s going to be my go-to site when I want to see The Panasonic strip tease commercial (for example…ha). Spend some time on WeShow, and let me know what you think!

one touch and boom…explode!

January 9, 2008 · 1 Comment

More in the realm of cool new websites, this one just happens to be a friend of mine (and I’m so proud of him!:) I can’t say it’s just him, because there are multiple people involved in TouchExplode …but anyway

I’m not really sure what the best way to explain TouchExplode is, because its content is so diverse on a day to day basis. That being said though, it is similar to JoshSpear.com in the sense that everything ties together nicely, even though the content from post to post can be completely different.

TouchExplode combines digital popular trends, hip hop clothing, music videos, really cool art, sometimes cool new products, photos, interviews, and pretty much everything in between and beyond those categories. It’s sleek and chic aesthetically, well written and concise (oops sometimes I am bad about that!), and the content always finds a way to impress me. This blog went from being a joke to potentially being a business in the future. I don’t want to jinx them, or put words in their mouths…but if it was me I would be getting ready for a major explosion. You should bookmark this and visit it, if not daily than at least a few times a week.
