I saw this last Friday on Gothamist, but didn’t want to take away from the high energy, yeye weekend mood, so I waited until today to post this little bit of news on saatchi & saatchi’s attempt to “revitalize” the I (heart) NY logo. YIKES. I would love to know which (not nice adjectives inserted here) creative director thought this was a genius redesign, because if I ever ran into this person I would make weird squirrel noises and flap around like a butterfly… you know because it would be funny and stuff.
* note, if this was a mean joke someone played on saatchi & saatchi…it’s um really mean and kind of hilarious- but if you know this was a joke, let me know so I can add in the fact that this amateur, 17million dollar attempt at a redesign is, in fact, and thankfully, not real.

I first saw this site while perusing the latest winners and losers on Commandshift3. Jan Sochor not only has a wonderfully designed website, but the content matches the exterior amazingly. The photos are vibrant and eye catching, and the subject matter stimulating. The photo essays are put together beautifully, and I really have no complaints. I highly recommend sitting down and watching some of the photo essays, and if you can’t dedicate that much time, at least click through the photoblog.

I heard about this site from a tweet on Twitter: http://twitter.com/ ; CommandShift3: http://commandshift3.com/ is a website that, like in the description, is a sort of hot or not for virtual geeks. It can be the most gorgeous website you’ve ever seen and you’re jsut thankful you’re finally seeing it, or it can be a poorly made site that lacks any creativity at all (kind of like mine!-sorry about that guys…I’m working on it). There is so much content and so many sites to look through that browsing can suck you in for hours. But, there are ways to sift through the entries; You can look at the best and worst sites daily, weekly, monthly, and all time. If you even have 10 min. of free time in front of your computer, take a look! Trust me when I say, CommandShift3 will bring prettyness into your digital life that you only hope existed in our cyber space of words and white screens. Big thumbs up from me!
